Innersheet

For hygienic reasons it is obligatory to use an innersheet.  We have to be very careful with the use of power and water and therefore it is not possible to wash the bedding after each guest.

An inner sheet can be bought in the hut.

Silk: Fr 128.- (from Sea to Summit)

Hut slippers

Hut slippers are available for adults and children.

Washing and toilet facilities

Summer

Our washing facility is a unique outdoor “trough” with cold, refreshing mountain water.  There is no warm water or shower.

Our toilets are also away from the hut.  They are “long-drop” toilets and through the heart shape in the door you have a wonderful view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.  The sewerage tanks are flown down to the valley where the sewerage is disposed of in the sewerage treatment plant.

Winter

In Winter it is not possible to have showers or wash as the hut has no running water.

Our toilets are away from the hut.  They are “long-drop” toilets and through the heart shape in the door you have a wonderful view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.  The sewerage tanks are flown down to the valley where the sewerage is disposed of in the sewerage treatment plant.

Vegetarians, people with allergies and food intolerances

We will happily cook vegetarian meals and will take care preparing food for people with allergies or food intolerances.  Please inform us when you reserve to stay in the hut, so that we can prepare an alternative menu for you.

For special menues due to allergies and intolerances we ask for an extra 5 francs per person because of the extra preparation.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed in the diningroom or in the sleeping quarters. If your dog can sleep alone on a woollen blanket in the workshop, then he will be able to accompany you on your hut visit.

Temperature in the hut

Summer

Don’t forget that it can be cool at times in summer in the mountains too!

Winter

In Winter it can be rather fresh in the hut.  You will need warm clothing as the room cannot be heated. It’s a good idea to take a warm sleeping bag so that you don’t freeze on cold winter nights!

Payment

Cash payment is desired.  From a minimum of 20 francs we will accept debit cards or Twint.  Payment with credit cards is possible with an extra commission of 3%.

Changing booking dates or cancellations

If you have to alter your booking dates or have to cancel your trip, you must do this at the latest two days before your booking date by 18.00 (6 p.m.) through the Online-Reservations-System (OHRS) or by telephone.  This is possible to do without extra charges.

However if you cancel or alter the dates later than two days beforehand there will be a charge.

Power supply

On the hut roof is a small solar energy unit which provides the hut with power.  Added to this supplier is a diesel generator.  With these two systems we have sufficient power for the necessary running of the hut.

Because we have to be careful with our power supply we are not able to provide guests with power to upload their batteries,  We recommend you take a powerbank with you.

Water supply

Summer

Above the hut is a small spring which provides us with running water in the hut and fills the trough by the hut too.  However this water is not drinking water.

Winter

There is no running water in the hut.  With some physical effort the water has to be brought to the hut in containers by sledge.  Water is precious!

Hut supplies

Foodstuffs and drinks are flown to the hut by Air Glacier.  On the return flight they take our refuse and empty bottles back down to the valley.

Fresh foodstuff we carry on our backs up to the hut if we are able, so that we use the helicopter as little as possible.  If you have room in your backpack please call us a day before you come and we will be happy to tell you what we may need.
